I get this feeling, I really do, even as I write this, I recognize my own lack of power to make any noticeable change in the world. Society is crumbling around us, our ability to cooperate is disappearing. Life at times just sucks, there's no other way to say it. Sure, we may have a few things, if we are lucky, upon which we can rely, whether that be some close friends, family, a decent job, or a hobby, but over time right now, if nothing changes in our world, life will only get worse and worse and I'm not only saying that for those that are already suffering. Those who are able to escape from the reality at the present time, will be dragged into it over time. Once the majority of people have been consumed, by whatever invisible beast we have created and unleashed upon ourselves, it will not be satiated, it will continue until all are consumed.
I've painted a rather bleak picture, I hope this eventually isn't the case for the majority, but I know this may always be a reality for some. So what are you supposed to do in the face of all of this? All that we can do, change. I'm not saying you need to change the world, but change something small in your life. Find a small way in which you can improve your life, find a way to find some small fulfillment in your day. It doesn't even need to be something you do every day. It doesn't need to become a habit. If you're able to, find something in this moment that creates a small positive change in your life. Go tell someone you care about that you appreciate them. Do a single push-up or squat. Spend a minute journaling. For someone like me, who is part camel, have yourself a drink of water. Make a small change.
You might feel frustrated with that answer, it is not going to take away much of how you are feeling, in the long-term it may not even do anything. This is however all that we can do, all we can do is continue to make small changes, day after day. Through this you will become the catalyst of change for our world. Your actions will propagate throughout society over time. I'm not sure how the world will change, but if we all change as individuals, will that not also mean that Humanity will change as well?
Change is not something that is easy, in fact I think change is the hardest thing we will ever do in life. I have thought a lot about how we can change as individuals and as society and have worked to develop an ever-changing set of principles that can help create change. For that I have added (or will add) a section to this website of principles which I hope can help you and myself create the change we desire in our lives.
